Professor Reggie Miles views his role today in the stepping community as that of an educator, DJ, radio personality, and historian. He experienced the dance firsthand from 1965 to 1992. “My mission is to reveal the early “culture” of the dance. If you don’t know where you’ve been, how can you know where you’re going?  Black social partner dancing was born out of necessity, as a release to relieve the pressures and oppression of daily life.”  Through Conversations he hopes to store many memories of legends and keep walking alive.
