About WSI The Details with Unique Maurice

Season 1 of The Details launched in November 2022. Inspired by recent conversations about contests, etiquette, and instruction, Unique Maurice launched a new series from World Steppers Inc to get out the details. The show shares his unique perspective on breaking down the dance, looking at different dancers and their dance, comparing competitive and social dancing, and what to look for in this day and age and why some things are just the way they are. Subjects can span from etiquette about asking a woman to dance to giving an inside firsthand look at the stepper scene in Chicago in clubs like Hero’s. The show also covers:

  • Stepping from Unique Maurice’s vision and his sight over the years
  • Insights into different dance styles and how they relate to the theme of Chicago Style Stepping
  • Looking at the progression of stepping and what it has been like for him
  • Breaking down the steps and rhythm seen from couples on the dance floor

About The Host Unique Maurice

Maurice Turner is from the Southside of Chicago, and his current home city is Atlanta, Georgia. He has been stepping for 25-26 years since 1994-95. Between 1997 and 2004, he won nine wins in the WLSC and the Masters in 2000 with partner Tina Moore. Maurice believes Stepping should have been on a larger mainstream platform already. It is the most rhythmic and fluent dance in our community. His experience makes his perspective unique regarding teaching, culture, uniformity, and rhythm.
